Covid19 has reached Jamaican shores. Since the first case was confirmed on March 10, 2020, people are panicking and need some advice. Share what you can with us, I am sure it will help someone, somewhere get through this pandemic.
The novel COVID-19 virus has been affecting many families, individuals, businesses and other activities worldwide. It is not only disrupting regular life but also (in the worst case) causing deaths, immeasurable fear, confusion and panic to almost everyone!
This is evident also here in Jamaica and it is getting worst each time another confirmed case is out and measures are implemented to try and control the spread. It is stressful for some, if not all of us here and overseas!
We were watching anxiously and keeping up to date with the cases in other regions, mostly in China where it was said to originate, and were praying and hoping that it does not reach our shores. However, our worst fears came to life when it hit us on March 10, 2020 when the Ministry of Health and Wellness confirmed that we recorded our first case of the virus, which was an imported one.
Panic was the name of the game when people started buying out all the anti-bacterial supplies and this is where is all started. Day by day we watched and listened to the authorities as they inform us as to the status of this one case and the way forward. This one case turned into two, then two into four then it just started going up. It was not multiplying rapidly as with other regions in the world, but for us it was a sure sign that this little island and supporters in the diaspora were really worried.
We get as much information as we can get from the Government as it relates to trying to control the spread and what we can and should and should not do in order to assist with reducing the spread, but some still believe they can do more while others just simply have no support at all.
This is quite understandable because this COVID19 issue is serious to the point where it forces us to do things out of our comfort zone.
I have been tracking and following this Coronavirus in Jamaica and to see if I can supply the people with a place to find information readily in a form they can understand, whether with short one to two sentences of information or pictures with the information for the visual persons. I have also tried to do an update as they are made by the Ministry on the Coronavirus In Jamaica Update page.
This forum is for the Jamaica-Land-We-Love family and friends and friends of friends and families because as we all know, out motto is OUT OF MANY ONE PEOPLE and we are ALL over the world and we can find a common place to share ideas, tips, words of encouragements and stories and experiences that others can see and use to assist them with coping during this time.
If it were up to me I would call it the COVID19 FAMILY SUPPORT FORUM, but I decided to leave the word "FAMILY" out because we don't need a word to assure us that we are all family.
So please feel free to share here. I assure you, your submission will be published on the site and you can let your friends and other family members know that you have a page on the website that everyone can see and that you are assisting a community of fellow Jamaicans and Jamaican enthusiasts.
It is simple and easy to share and persons impacted will get the opportunity to share their Covid19 stories from wherever they are in the world. They may also report situations or issues the authorities should be aware of and because of the nature of this medium, we'll assist with getting that information out to the relevant authorities.
So please, do not be shy. Click the link to share now or just scroll down to the form below and start sharing.
