This Jamaican Rum Punch Recipe is a favourite among many Jamaicans and Jamaican enthusiasts. It is another one of those easy to prepare Jamaican beverages, but with variations.
There are different strengths of this Jamaican beverage and you can experiment with as many as you like to find the best fitting taste for you or the event you are planning on providing this drink to.
Rum Punch is a VERY popular Jamaican drink, especially during the Christmas season in and around the fourteen parishes of Jamaica. It is also popularly served to vacationers in Jamaica or other Caribbean islands.
There are many various recipes across the Caribbean, but Jamaica is the ORIGINAL home of the Rum Punch. In Jamaica we say a little jingle to make is easier to remember the mix ratio to making this rum punch as tasty as ever. This jingle goes like this:
“ONE OF SOUR, TWO of SWEET, THREE OF STRONG, and FOUR OF WEAK”
This is just simply putting the ingredients into context because you only need FOUR simple ingredients to make this tasty punch. Let me break it down for you some more...
SOUR - refers to the lime (or lemon) content
SWEET - refers to the syrup content
STRONG - refers to the alcohol content (namely white rum) and
WEAK - refers to the water content.
That being said, it should be noted that for this classic Jamaican Rum Punch recipe the "measure" can be cups or gallon, but the ratios must be the same of whatever measure you use.
Here are THREE (3) simple recipes following the classic recipe of 1-2-3-4 formula of parts sour, sweet, strong and weak.
There is a version for everyone. Try them ALL and choose your favourite.
